Snow in Paris
Our friends in France told us that Paris in winter is completely different from the Paris we know in summer when tourists invade the city. Maybe with less tourists, the true image of Paris can be seen from a foreigners point of view. We were there during the big freeze in December and January. It was one of those years when Paris witnessed a huge amount of snow – an unusual sight in the French capital. In some places up to 10 cm of snow! Very f ...

A tour in Europe
It has been 5 years since Batista, my partner, and I have met each other. Busy with our lives, our careers and our projects we have even noticed how fast time flies. That is why we wanted to take some time off to visit Europe. We wanted a break from our stressful life and spend some quality time visiting some of the most famous European cities. We have been saving for this trip for 3 years now to make the most of it and to enjoy every bit of it. ...

Rail Europe’s top 10 destinations for 2013
There has never been a better time for Australians to visit Europe. The Aussie dollar is at an all time high, airfares to Europe are dropping and travelling within and between countries has never been easier thanks to the massive investment in high speed rail across the region.
The team in the Rail Europe Office here in Sydney have travelled by rail all over Europe to some great destinations. We decided to compile a list of some of our favourites ...

Spending Valentine’s Day in Venice
As February is fast approaching, It got me thinking about the wonderful Valentine’s day that I spent with Tony (my husband) in Italy 2 years ago. I’ve been meaning to share my experiences with other romantic souls who are planning a similar trip.
We’ve never been big on celebrating Valentine’s Day, a low key dinner out somewhere is all it takes to keep me happy but with 2011 being our 5th Valentine’s Day together, we decided to spla ...

Dijon, gateway to Burgundy’s wines!
James and I are two wine lovers! Our passion has lead us to this trip to France, where the world’s best wines are. And the region which holds the key to the greatest French wineyards is the Burgundy. The region gateway, Dijon ville is easily connected to Paris by train and the travel duration is around 1 hour and 40 minutes by the high speed TGV.
We are even more convinced of this trip as we documented about Dijon and learned about its culture ...

Wine routes of France – Bordeaux
Kate and I have been long time admirers of France, and one of the aspects that we love the most about this country is its world class wine. So this year we decided to have a trip to the one of the most famous wine regions in France. Bordeaux was the obvious choice for our first trip. Easy to reach and rich in traditions!
We took the TGV train, the high speed French train, from Paris to Bordeaux. Travel duration from the French capital to the hear ...

Our summer trip in Europe…in train!
We started planning our trip to Europe some 6 months back, and when the D-day came we were of course very excited. I think that excitation, a little bit of stress (good stress) and the feeling of discovering another country is part of very voyage. We’ve been together since 2 years, and every time Janice and I went for somewhere, we always enjoyed this part of the trip the most – the feeling we are about to embark on something new!
So, yes to ...

Our Great Tour of Great Britain!
My husband and I just came back from a grand tour of Great Britain. Rob is Irish but we met in London when I came over to do the usual Ozzie year out and after we fell in love and I dragged Rob back to Oz to get married. He loves it in Oz but he wanted to visit family and we decided to make it a big trip. We’re a bit older than when we met so our focus was less on the bars and more on the culture – although we did enjoy a few sneaky pints on ...

The art of travel
Being married for 30 years is a great way to make sure you see the world. Every anniversary we try and do something or go somewhere just to liven things up and so for our 30th we decided to do a big trip over to Europe. We are both great fans of Italian Renaissance art (we met at art college many years ago so it brings out the romance in us), Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo and Raphael and so on, so when we were looking for trips to Europe we dec ...

Wine tour of Europe: Rioja, Bordeaux, Chianti
My friend Mark and I have just returned from a wine tour of Spain, France and Italy – all by train. We’re both into our wines, particularly reds, although Mark thinks knows more than me… so he planned Spain and I did France and we both had an input for Italy. We had three weeks so divided the time equally between the three countries.
SPAIN : We flew into Madrid and did a wine tasting tour just to get into the spirit of things. As every ...
